unit 121- Practice

I had a play with lightwave yesterday evening and created a basic Rank 2 ship (out of my story).
I had trouble with the divisions because lightwave wouldn't put them where i wanted them.
I also had trouble with extruding because every odd part went transparent, i need to find a solution for this. I used the double shield option, but i don't like the result.
I put some basic texture on to see what it looks like, but so far i don't like it and as i can't find the render option i can't have a proper look.

unite 39-Research

I sent a while exploring various websites. An found that i liked the most interactive and creative ones, mostly the site where you had to find the buttons.

I find this site really nice style wise. it looks like each image on the site have been hand drawn. It looks like hey have been done with water colours and were edited in photoshop to improve the colours.
You also have to find the buttons that are also hand drawn.
This style reminds me of a child's' book in a way yet the work she produces isn't suitable for children.
When navigating threw the site, you travel around her world. Again he buttons are various images hidden threw the page, some are also animated. Each take you to a to an other animated page. The cat at the bottom gives you a hit to where some buttons are and tells you some information, like what media she used in each image.
The back ground is colourful but it's not i your face so it's nice and peaceful to navigate threw.
The website has been done in the style this artist prefers and uses more commonly.
Te site loads relatively quickly and the browsers don't really bother the design, as it fits into the window.
When you click on a button containing a piece of her wok, it will open in a new window:

unit 121- inspirational picture for my ideas- Ramatopia

http://www.toutlecine.com/images/serie/0002/00022605-dinotopia.html

http://www.jeuxvideo.fr/jeux/monster-hunter-freedom-unite/

After watching a movie called Dinotopia many years ago (as a child i think), i wished the world was like in that film. Of course it isn't, so a year or two later i made my own world which is still growing 7 years later.
These past few years i've be creating extra creatue for this world and imagining a bit more in deaph what it would be like to be there. To add more life i brought in some of the enviromment life/ways and creature of my favourte game so far, Monster hunter.
This would be a place where hunter would have to create their own weaons and armour out of creature they had slain, sleep in the tree tops, in the acient forest (a Jungle full of GIANT trees that are a cross between a baoba, a redwood pine and a palm tree) .
This is a world ruled by Dragons, wyverns and lungs, all different sized monsters.
This place would be relaiely prehistorique, contredicting it's past. 3000years ago, their world was far more adanced in technology than we are today, but catastrophic weather changes caused huge floods, Hurricanes and so on. The priest beleived that it was the wraff of the gods. 3 Months of torrential Ran destroyed the civilation and their technology. The survivors had to relearn the basics of suvival.
Their decendents today, are experienced crafts-men who can use biological materials, minerals, and ancient magic to create their weapons and armour. They also fear technology, thinking that if they used it, it would anger the gods once more. The poeple are now more unified with naure and only kill to survive, which includes hunting for food, or protecting their poeple from the giants.
Ancient ruins can still be found in some areas, hidden over time, other ruins are deep underground, burried with the shifting of the world. Some are inhabited by various sized monsters, some are just passing by, while ohers are permanant residants.
This world ould hae a varietyof enviroments going from dense jungles to deserts, from snowy mountains to firery volcanic plains. Each part of the world is inhabited in one way or and other and of course, the top predator of this world are in each part of the globe.

The images on this web page are much like the wild environment of this planet. A huge par would be forest, jungles, swamps and mountains. but you'd find huge deserts as well as volcanoes.
Though the jungles are a huge par of the environment meaning that this planet has a great amount of oxygen. The down side is that this planet is rather large, a bit bigger than our own, making it had to breah at first and suffering with cronic migranes for new visitors is common. Though by being there for a long period, you end up purrified, so when you come back to a polluted world, say like earth, you end up sufering because of that instead.

The villages now would be more like acienttribal villages.

A piece of research i've still got from a project of two years ago, so i can't really remember where i got it from.
But this would be what the remaining ruins would be like. Oddly enough, it would mostly be the religious sybloles and building that are still standing, but they are now feared for the angry ghosts of the preist that died in the floods. Iroonically thogh, the humanoides still have a similar religion.

unit 121- inspirational picture for my ideas- Oblivion

Oblivion

My oblivion universe is really just volcanic plains as far as the eye can see with Spire like towers in cliff faces and in the desert plains.
This world is basically the land of the dead and evil, a place where even the devil is a simple servant.
The grounds surface has a rocky texture and plenty of sand and ash deserts. Both are jet black.
Many different coloured crystals can be found hidden in the rocks near the lava pools.
Plant life is very limited, as this realm feed of the blood of living things. Most plants are very basic either roots, poisonous flours or tall sharp blades of grass. However this grass isn't like the grass we know, it is red and full of blood vanes. If this grass ended up in the dimension of the living, even a single blade of grass would soon multiply and chock any native plant life, turning the land into an extension of Oblivion.
For this to happen must be opened. They lay dormant within any worlds crust, and will burst out of the ground before opening. The energy that escapes them is a bit like tendrils and grab hold of anything that either doesn't belong to the realm. They seek heat and blood, though they are simply energy. Once the gates are opened, any living creature in the area is drained of it blood which in turn powers Oblivion and feeds it's inhabitants.
The dimension has a sulphuric and musky smell to it's environment and the air, is poisoned by the constant volcanic energy. Creatures that do not belong to this realm, begin to suffer with dizziness, possible vomiting, lack of breath, and slow blood poisoning. The ai they would breath would also be full of CO2 and would be superheated, so they would really struggle for breath but they would also have their lungs plastered in carbon and their respatory system would basicaly cook for the inside.
The weather would be mostly violent storms and hurricanes due to the volcanic activity. Any rain would be very acide. However, the black clouds occaionally breack up a little, letting you see a red-pinkish sky.

These are inspired by the actual plains of Oblivion from the the game The elders scrolls IV, Oblivion by Bethesda Softworks.
This game has came out many years ago on Pc and has come out on Xbox 360and PS3 in the recent years.

I really love this image as it has all the characteristics My oblivion has, ecxept the building maybe.
I love the colours as they are mostly my faourite colours appart from obviously the pink. I also like how the border between the land and the sky seems to glow due to the raging fires of the molten rock.

http://archives.starbulletin.com/2006/12/18/news/story07.html

I took this image because the texture of cooled lava is like the rocky lands of Oblivion. It would be similar also with cracks where streams of molten rock would run freely, seaping out of the ground down to their basing. Best way i could find something like this to photographe would be layers of melted tar but it doesn't get hot enough in this countr for that, o i'll have to find a way to recreate it.

I found this image on my computer. I think it's been there a while because i can't remember where i got it from.
But anyway, the lava flow in this image is just like the rivers in Oblivion. The lackes and oceans would be similar, but they wouldn't have waves as the liquide in them is to sticky fo that, instead it would just bubble away, like cookig rice pudding.

unit 121- Mind maps

Here's my my maps for some idea generation for my environment.
I think I'm likely to create something i imagined ages ago in my stories but never really got on paper, So it'll be really interesting to see it in 3D.
